The NHRA is proud to announce that nominations are now officially open for the “51 Legends of the Divisions” program, presented by Quarter-Max Racing, as part of the organization’s 75th Anniversary celebration in 2026.
This special initiative honors the racers, track operators, and innovators who have made a lasting impact on the sport of drag racing at the divisional level. Rooted in NHRA’s founding year of 1951, each of the seven divisions will recognize 51 individuals whose contributions have helped shape the history and success of NHRA competition across the country.
Nominations are now open on each NHRA Division website and will remain open through June 14, 2026. Following the close of nominations, a division-appointed committee will review submissions and narrow the field of candidates.
From July 1 through August 1, final voting will take place to determine each division’s 51 Legends. Beginning September 14, following the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, divisions will begin announcing their honorees. The Top 5 Legends will then be recognized on stage at the PRI Show later this year.
All honorees will receive a special-edition 75th Anniversary Medallion, courtesy of Quarter-Max Racing, and will be celebrated at their respective NHRA Division Banquets. Check your division’s page for specific details.
Racers, crew members, and track operators are encouraged to participate by submitting nominations and recognizing those who have left a meaningful legacy—both on and off the track.
As NHRA celebrates 75 years of history, the “51 Legends of the Divisions” program serves as a tribute to the people who have driven the sport forward—past, present, and future.
📅 Nominations are now open – visit your NHRA Division website to submit today.
